Born in Newcastle, after RADA Janet McTeer started her professional career at the Royal Exchange, Manchester. Her career in theatre is paved with awards, including the Olivier, Critics’ Circle, Tony (twice), Drama Desk (twice) and Theatre World, for “Doll’s House” and “Mary Stuart”. In film, Janet has won a Golden Globe for Best Actress (Tumbleweeds) for which she was also nominated for an Academy Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. In the 2010 Emmy Awards McTeer was nominated “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a mini-series” for playing Clementine Churchill in “The Gathering Storm”. This part won her a nomination for Best Actress in the 2010 Golden Globes, and in the 2010 Satellite Awards.
